Kadeena Cox MBE
Kadeena Cox overcame injury to storm to victory in the women’s T38 400m at the World Para Athletics Championships in London. The Paralympic champion, won gold with a time of 62.87 seconds – just under six seconds ahead of Japan’s Yuka Takamatsu. Cox then went on to win Silver in the T38 100m final with a time of 13.07 seconds to add to her bronze in the T38 200m final. After a season interrupted by injury and controversy over her participation in Channel 4’s celebrity winter sports contest The Jump, this was an excellent return for the former Wetherby High School pupil in a year which began with her being awarded an MBE in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list for services to athletics.
